Introduction to WebAssembly
WebAssembly (Wasm) is a binary instruction format that runs in modern browsers at near-native speed.
Why Wasm
JavaScript is fast, but compiled languages like C, Rust, and Go can be faster for compute-heavy tasks. Wasm lets you run that code in the browser safely.
Use Cases
- Image and video processing
- Game engines
- Scientific simulations
- Language runtimes (Python, Ruby) in the browser
Wasm complements JavaScript. It does not replace it.
