Vim Commands I Use Every Day
You do not need to learn all of Vim. You need about twelve commands.
Navigation
h j k l — move
w b — word forward / back
^ $ — start / end of line
gg G — top / bottom of file
Ctrl-d/u — page down / up
Editing
x — delete character
dd — delete line
yy — yank (copy) line
p — paste below
u Ctrl-r — undo / redo
Insert Modes
i — insert before cursor
a — append after cursor
o — open new line below
I A — start / end of line
The rest you pick up organically when the need arises. Resist the urge to learn everything at once.
